Starring opposite Kano in Netflix’s dystopian drama The Kitchen, Jedaiah Bannerman made his debut after his aunt spotted a call-out on Instagram.

Academy Award-winning actor Daniel Kaluuya, who co-directed the film alongside Kibwe Tavares, put his faith in the then 12 year old as casting director Aisha Bywaters claimed she was blown away by his audition. ‘You knew from this boy's tape that he was pretty good,’ says Bywaters. ‘Then you have an audition with him and this guy has got such emotional intelligence’. Speaking on how he made the most of his first on-set experience, working with Kano, Kaluuya, Tavares and fellow Media Eye Rising Star Hope Ikpoku Jr, Bannerman told The Face ‘I was inquisitive. I made sure to ask a lot of questions’.
